A MOTORIST who admitted driving without insurance was given the shortest possible disqualification period when he appeared before Carlow District Court last week. Neli Ionas, Broghan Cottage, Fenagh pleaded guilty to driving without insurance after he was stopped by gardaí at Woodglade, Fenagh on 5 November 2023.

Solicitor John O’Sullivan told the court that 21-year-old Mr Ionas had recently moved to Ireland and his family were trying to establish themselves here.

Judge Geraldine Carthy said that she had to disqualify him from driving but said that she would impose the shortest term of three months, while also fining him €300.
