Carlow Weatherman’s predictions for Stradbally’s Electric Picnic weekend

“It’ll be jumper on, jumper off kind of weather”, says the Carlow Weatherman Alan O’Reilly
SPEAKING with members of the press at the preview of the site today, and to what type of weather festivalgoers can expect over the Electric Picnic weekend in Stradbally, Alan O’Reilly, ‘The Carlow Weatherman’, had this to say.
“I think the weather will be very mixed, sunny spells with some showers. Hopefully the worst of it on Friday night and into Saturday will stay south of Stradbally. It will feel warm in the sunshine, once the clouds come out it will feel cooler and cool at nighttime as well. You will want to stay warm but also have a bit of sun cream. It’ll be a bit of everything really.
“It’ll be typical Irish late summer early Autumn kind of weather. It’ll be a bit cooler than it has been. It’ll be jumper on, jumper off kind of weather. When the sun comes out if will feel nice and warm, but obviously later in the days it will get cooler.”
Asked will the festivalgoers get flooded out and how heavy he thought the showers could be, he said: “There will be some heavy showers. But if the worst of the rain stays south (of Stradbally) on Friday night, I think there will be mainly showers, but there will be heavy showers, no doubt about that. A waterproof tent is going to be a very important thing to have.”
