Carlow mum duped while trying to ‘spend a penny’

The out-of-order loo in Carlow Town Park
LESS than two months after a major revamp, visitors to the playground at Carlow Town Park have been left bewildered by their inability to ‘spend a penny’, or in this case the 50 cents required to access the public toilet located within the park grounds.
The amenity closed in February for upgrade works and since it reopened in late May, has been met with high praise for its inclusivity and accessibility.
However, concerns have been expressed about access to the public toilet close to the play area, following a number of online reports that the toilet has remained closed, despite accepting the 50 cents required to use the facility.
One local mother told
that she and her child were waiting outside the facility for a period of time, but were unable to gain access.“The door was closed and the occupied sign was displayed, but after a few minutes I knocked and there was no answer so I put my money in, but nothing happened. The door didn’t open and I didn’t get my money back,” said the woman.
