CARLOW and Kilkenny county councils’ local enterprise offices invite female founders and business leaders from across the region to come together for National Women’s Enterprise Day, a landmark celebration marking the day’s 20th year anniversary. The day is the flagship national initiative for women in business, co-ordinated by local enterprise offices and Enterprise Ireland.

The event will take place on Thursday 15 October in the Woodford Dolmen Hotel, Carlow town from 11.45am to 2pm. The theme of this year’s day is #MakingItHappen, celebrating the resilience and ambition of female entrepreneurs who have built and grown their business over the past two decades.

The event will be hosted by broadcaster Ruth Scott of Classic Hits FM. The event will be in three parts, beginning with a Lessons learned fireside chat with Denise Walsh of Curly Co, Laura Mullin of The Old Post Office and Brigid Walsh of Solar Precision. There will then be a ‘power panel’ of industry experts featuring Rosemary Ward of Propellor BIC, Ruth Larkin of Lark Bridal and finance specialist Mary Hayden.

The event will close with a ‘supporting you’ session, which will outline the funding, mentoring and development programmes available to businesswomen through both local enterprise offices.

Organisers have said that places are limited and registration is essential, so early booking is advised. Tickets cost €20 per person and can be purchased from the Local Enterprise Office Carlow website.
