Volunteers from several local businesses, led by MSD, rowed in behind garden upgrade in St Fiacc's House

ST FIACC'S House in Graiguecullen had a gathering recently for the opening of a beautiful new garden and picnic area.

The garden was the most recent of several projects carried out over the past two years by the MSD Project Rathgall team and a number of local businesses in the construction industry.

“We are so blessed to have been their chosen charity for the last two years and thank them most sincerely for the many jobs carried out,” said Joan Doogue, manager of the centre. “These included the creation of a beautiful front garden, back garden overhaul and gorgeous picnic area, a new website and many more projects, too numerous to mention. The Rathgall team enjoyed painting, gardening, cleaning and, most importantly, connecting with residents during a number of team bonding days at St Fiacc's.”

St Fiacc’s House is a daycare service which also provides much-needed meals-on-wheels for older people. It provides low-dependency residential services to people over 65 in the Carlow/Laois area. Its aim is to promote their independence and support them to achieve their optimum level of wellbeing.

Fr John Dunphy and Seán Harte, chairperson of the board, along with Joan Doogue thanked everyone involved.

“St Fiacc's House will never forget their generosity and genuine interest in helping us to improve and enhance our grounds for the comforts of our residents and service users. We will be forever grateful to them,” said Joan.
