IRISH language enthusiast Áine Ní Oldáin from Ballon has just landed her dream job in TG4. Áine began an internship as a broadcast supervisor with the Irish language TV station last year and luckily this evolved into a full-time role in November.
“Every day is totally different in this role, which is why I find the job so interesting and appealing. Putting live shows to air can be extremely exciting but also takes a lot of concentration, which I find very enjoyable and challenging,” said Áine.
She attended Ballon NS until second class before moving on to Gaelscoil Eoghain Uí Thuairisc and then Gaelcholáiste Ceatharlach. Her love for the Irish language began with a teacher she had in first class who was extremely passionate about the language. Although Áine’s parents don’t speak Irish, she believes that she is very lucky that her parents have always been supportive of her passions. “When it was clear I had a keen interest in the language, my parents helped me make the move from an English-speaking school to a Gaelscoil when I was eight years’ old and I haven’t looked back since!” she said.
