BAD weather and no electricity may have temporarily halted plans for a craft fair in Bagenalstown, but it certainly wasn’t going to put a permanent stop to it, or the generosity of the local community.
Marion Smyth and Mary Clarke held the craft fair before Christmas in the town’s Railway Bar to raise funds for a minibus for the residents living in St Lazerian’s House, Bagenalstown. The craft fair had been due to take place the previous week, but Storm Darragh put paid to that. Undeterred, the ladies held the craft fair the following week, raising a terrific €900 for this very worthy cause.
Marion and Mary would like to thank Mark Doyle of the Railway House Bar and his family for the use of their lounge on a very busy Saturday. There was a raffle on the day with many local businesses and individuals also kindly donating prizes.
