Carlow Brewing Company's Brown Bear range, sold exclusively in Aldi

A CRAFT BEER brewed in Carlow and sold in Aldi is proving to be a major hit with shoppers nationwide, with one bottle being sold every 16 seconds.

Carlow Brewing Company, also known as O’Hara’s Brewery, is located on the Royal Oak Road, in Bagenalstown, and provides an exclusive range of craft beers to Aldi.

The independent, family-owned business is one of the pioneers of Irish craft brewing, having been first established in 1996.

The Brown Bear range, which is brewed exclusively for Aldi, has won multiple awards, both nationally and internationally, including their gluten-free lager, which won gold medals at the 2025 World Beer Awards, and the 2025 Blas na hÉireann awards.

Head Brewer at Carlow Brewing Company, Jordan Donnelly said, “We are passionate about producing beers that showcase the quality and creativity of Irish brewing. Our partnership with Aldi Ireland has allowed us to bring the Brown Bear range to shoppers right across the country, and seeing the response from customers has been incredibly rewarding.”

She continued: “The recognition from respected industry awards, alongside continued growth in demand, reflects the dedication of our team here in Carlow Brewing company and the quality of the beers we create.”
