Ardattin players bring classic to the stage

ARDATTIN Drama Group is thrilled to announce its much-anticipated performance of the John B Keane’s heart-wrenching play
.Under the insightful direction of the talented Sarah Malone, this masterpiece will feature a remarkable local cast, bringing to life a tapestry of emotions over two captivating weekends.
The run begins on Friday 28 February, Saturday and Sunday 1-2 March, followed by performances the following weekend on Saturday and Sunday 8-9 March. Tickets cost €10 and are available at the door each evening, with curtain up at 8pm.

In addition to a night filled with drama, laughter and poignant moments, the audience can avail of an exciting raffle each evening, with generous prizes sponsored by local businesses.
Set against the backdrop of rural Ireland in the 1960s,
weaves a gripping narrative centered around the tumultuous return of a father who abandoned his family two decades earlier. On the momentous day of his daughter’s wedding, Hiker Lacey, knowing he has little time left, makes his way back home to seek forgiveness from those he hurt most – his wife and children.This play serves as a profound character study of an unconventional family grappling with the shadows of loss and regret. It dives deep into the complexities of father-son relationships, the ache of lost love and the vulnerabilities of masculinity. Each family member must confront their feelings and come to terms with the ramifications of the Hiker’s unexpected return.

The cast includes Brid Lalor plays Mary Lacey with John Lynam as Hiker Lacey while the role of Dr William Dolly is played by John O’Toole.
Joe Lacey is performed by John Smyth, with Patricia Roche as Kate Lacey, Jim O’Neill as Simey Lacey and Bernie Mullins taking on the role of Freda.
The creative team and set design is Ildiko Devai, John Lynam and Sarah Malone.
