Another Japanese import stolen in Carlow town

Gardaí issued a warning to owners of Japanese imported cars

THIEVES have targeted another Japanese-imported car in Carlow town after gardaí issued a warning to car owners that these particular models are vulnerable to theft.

Last week, a garda spokesperson told The Nationalist that Toyota Vitz and Aqua cars were being targeted by criminals because they are easy to break into and steal because they don’t have factory-fitted immobilisers in them.

The latest car that was targeted was a white Toyota Vitz, which was stolen between Sunday night and Monday morning 18-19 May from the car park at Hanover House, Carlow.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone with any information to contact them on 059 9136620.

In a separate incident, gardaí attended the scene of a suspected arson attack on a car in the Carrigbrook estate, Tullow Road, Carlow in the early hours of 14 May.

The scene was also attended by the fire service, which extinguished the blaze.

Contact investigating gardaí on the above number if you have any information or CCTV that may assist them.
