€9k worth of drugs seized in Co Carlow over weekend

Gardaí are investigating

AN GARDA Síochána conducted two separate drug seizures in Co Carlow over the weekend, resulting in the confiscation of suspected illegal substances with a combined value of €9,000.

The first incident occurred on Friday evening, 5 September, at approximately 5pm when gardaí stopped and searched a vehicle in the vicinity of Carlow town. During the search, officers discovered what they suspect to be cannabis with an estimated street value of €3,000.

A day later, on Saturday 6 September, gardaí executed a search warrant at an address in Bagenalstown. The operation resulted in the seizure of approximately €6,000 worth of what is suspected to be cocaine.

One man was arrested in connection with the Carlow town incident and has been charged. No arrests have yet been made in relation to the Bagenalstown seizure.

Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
