Carlow has one of the lowest vacancy rates
A TOTAL of 322 new residential address were added to Carlow’s postal service over the last year, with a further 393 homes under construction across the county.
That’s according to figures released by GeoDirectory, which also indicates that Carlow has a home vacancy rate of 2.5%, lower than the national average of 3.9%.
GeoDirectory was jointly established by An Post and Tailte Éireann to create and manage a definitive reference dictionary for all 1.9 million buildings in Ireland, assigning them with precise postal and geographic addresses.
In Carlow, the residential vacancy rate from April to June was 2.5%, one of the lowest in the country. Nationally, vacancies are at record low levels. More than 20,000 residential properties were classified as derelict, with only 1% of these in Carlow. The report, prepared by Ernst & Young, found that the average house price in Carlow was €258,004 in May, compared with the national average of €381,749. The average mortgage repayment for a new dwelling in May 2024 was €1,723, while the average rent in Carlow is €1,137.
