Edward Vines has been jailed at Nottingham Crown Court for breaching a restraining order preventing him from contacting Ms Maitlis.

The newsreader is to co-host Channel 4’s US election coverage alongside Emily Maitlis.

The Holiday actor stars alongside Gillian Anderson, who plays journalist Emily Maitlis in the new Netflix series Scoop.

The long-running nightly current affairs show on BBC Two will continue to air every weeknight.
