A CARLOW music producer has marked a major career milestone after attending the 68th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles as an official voting member of the Recording Academy.

Kendrick Lamar picked up record of the year for GNX Luther, which features samples of the late soul star Luther Vandross and Cheryl Lynn.

The star accepted his award saying: ‘We’re not savages, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens, we are humans and we are Americans’.

Rap star Lamar is up for nine awards, the most of any artist at this year’s ceremony.

The annual awards show will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 2nd next year.
