The trial has been sitting since November 8th and has heard nearly two weeks of evidence since opening at the Criminal Courts of Justice.

James Kilroy - who admits killing his wife at their rural Co Mayo home - had a long history of cannabis use and was regularly consuming the drug therapeutically in the three years leading up to her death

The accused also told the psychiatrist that his wife "wasn't part of the plan" and said he had stabbed her in the throat using a kitchen knife
