Dublin Fire Brigade crews had fireworks directed at them and one of the windscreens on their fire engines smashed during Halloween call-outs

As preparations are well under way across the country for Halloween festivities, An Garda Síochána is advising people to be safe and sensible.

A 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene and detained at a Garda station in Dublin.

"As a council, we cannot give someone permission to run an event that involves licensed explosives without an event management plan. It is as simple as that.”
