The 18-year-old’s body was found at the bottom of a quarry after she had attended a charity dance.

The UUP leader said ‘did not recognise his (Beattie’s) characterisation of me’.

A party spokesperson said they do ‘not accept the characterisation of recent events set out in Mr Beattie’s letter’.

Marian Beattie, 18, was last seen alive at a charity dance in Aughnacloy, Co Tyrone, on March 30th, 1973.
