The pedestrian, a 16-year-old female, was treated at the scene before being transferred to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where she was later pronounced deceased.

Police have appealed for information about the incident on Saturday.

The woman, who was in her 80s, died following a collision with a grey Seat Ateca in the Doagh Road area of Newtownabbey on January 13.

It is understood Mrs Byrne (nee Gallagher) was with a family member when the tragedy occurred at Lower Main Street in Buncrana.

Marian Morgan, who lived in the Tinryland area of Carlow and formerly worked for Carlow County Council was struck by a car at 6.30pm.
