Holyhead port in Anglesey, North Wales, was forced to close following damage during Storm Darragh.

It was recently announced that the port will remain closed until at least January 15th, 2025.

The closure has left thousands of people planning to travel through the port to Ireland for Christmas scrambling for alternative transport

Irish Ferries has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to say that it is now cancelling Holyhead/Dublin sailings to end January 15th, 2025.

Some seats on services from the UK to Ireland later this week and early next week are costing more than €600

Taoiseach Simon Harris said on Monday the 'seriousness' of the damage caused by Storm Darragh was becoming 'more apparent as the days go by'.
