Children’s Minister Roderic O’Gorman said three investigations are under way into what happened to Kyran Durnin.

As a search and excavation operation at the former Durnin family home in Dundalk concluded on Thursday evening, with no major discoveries made, gardaí were expected to search another property connected to the family in Drogheda.

Garda Commissioner Drew Harris said there is a ‘particular element’ in the disappearance of schoolboy Kyran Durnin that is ‘difficult to comprehend’.

Gardaí have started excavating a section of wasteland behind eight-year-old Kyran’s former family home in Dundalk, Co Louth.

The eight-year-old was reported missing from his home in Drogheda, Co Louth, on August 30th and is presumed dead.
