Earlier on Wednesday, another male pedestrian was injured along John Street in Kilkenny city at around 2.30 pm.

The woman was rushed by ambulance from the scene to University Hospital Limerick, where she was in a serious condition.

Gardaí and emergency services responded to the incident on Broad Road at 1 am after a SUV struck the man.

The incident happened at approximately 6:05am on Thursday morning.
