It follows an incident off the Inishowen Peninsula yesterday afternoon that sparked a huge search and rescue mission.

Sharkey is charged with a number of offences from sexual to indecent assault against at least a dozen young boys on various occasions in the 1970s and 1980s.

The county is a hotbed of seismic activity and occasionally records smaller quakes even though most people rarely notice the tremors.
