Emergency services responded to the incident on the pedestrianised North Earl Street shortly after 12.30pm.

This comes after Social Democrats TD Gary Gannon said that “serious thought” into how future events and celebrations are organised needs to be put into future events in the city, after an alleged stabbing on Monday.

The incident happened at around 1pm on Monday at Marlborough Street in the city centre, where thousands had turned out to celebrate the homecoming of the Irish Olympians.

A man in his 40s was injured at the junction of Marlborough Street and Cathedral Street on Monday afternoon.
