James Kiernan, 28, of Surglastown, Co Dublin, was charged with possessing cannabis for sale or supply at his home address and possessing drugs at a second location, in Jordanstown, Oldtown.

In a joint operation, Gardai and Revenue seized the drugs that were hidden in a truck that arrived into Cork Port from Belgium last Sunday.

The drugs were discovered during the search of a home on Friday. 

A quantity of drugs including cocaine, diamorphine and cannabis was also seized.

Garda statement said the seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations into the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs

The operation, targeting a local organised drug gang, which was led by the Limerick Garda Divisional Drug Unit, saw armed officers stop and search a car and raid a unit at the Galvone Industrial Estate, Galvone.

A vehicle was intercepted shortly after 4 pm on Wednesday in Cabra, while a home was also searched in the area.

A woman in her 20s and a man in his 30s were later arrested in the Dublin 24 and Bray areas, and are being detained in a city centre Garda station.

Two vehicles, a cash-counting machine and financial documentation was also taken by Revenue officers.

The Criminal Assets Bureau conducted a search operation in west Dublin as part of ongoing CAB investigation into targets linked to a Dublin-based organised crime group.

The drugs were recovered after gardaí stopped two vehicles shortly after 3pm, which led to a planned search of a premises in the Ballymount area shortly after 3pm. 

Owen Treacy (28), with an address at St Senan’s Street, St Mary’s Park, Limerick, was refused bail after appearing before Limerick District Court on Tuesdaym September 17th.
