Janet Horner's call comes as a senior council engineer said that houses on Connaught Street in Phibsborough and Ferguson Road in Dromcondra should not have been purchased due to the extent of their dereliction. 

“There is much more the government must do if we are to meaningfully tackle dereliction," Green Party Councillior, Janet Horner said.

Janet Horner is a local councillor and union activist.

Mr Leddin said he was happy that there were “two excellent candidates” and it would be a good year for the party whoever comes out as leader.
