Mark Keane brought the court action after an accident at the Johnson & Johnson factory in Co Limerick

Alan Mulhall (34) was fatally injured when a low voltage switchgear weighing 760kg fell and struck his head

Mr Keane has already told the court he was "not the man he was, nor the one he hoped to become" because of the injuries and felt "let down" by his employer, Johnson & Johnson.

The man was working on a farm in Newtowncunningham when the accident happened.

The court heard that a site engineer who should have been on-site to supervise this work had left at midday despite being contracted to be present

The statement from gardaí said: “His body has been removed to the mortuary in University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.”

Emergency services were called to a premises close to the town of Tullow however the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident occurred at a premises in Garryhinch on Thursday evening.
