Fine Gael MEP Kelly has spent the past decade campaigning to scrap the twice-yearly switch.

Solar Ireland chief executive, Ronan Power, said the clock change means solar can start doing the heavy lifting for Ireland’s energy system:

Do longer, brighter, and warmer evenings boost your mood? Or do you prefer the cool and dark evenings of winter?

IST, or daylight saving time (DST), lasts until the final Sunday in October, when the clocks go back an hour.

The clock change does mean we get one hour less sleep.

Some experts have argued that clock changes in March and October disrupt sleep and circadian rhythms, leading to sleep loss and short-term health issues.
