The Finance Minister has insisted his resistance to tax breaks for developers is ‘unchanged’ after his party leader said he was ‘open’ to the move.

The Tánaiste was speaking as Fine Gael held its annual think-in at a hotel in Co Westmeath.

Bulelani Mfaco became involved in the campaign to end direct provision after arriving in Ireland as an asylum seeker from South Africa in 2017.

Imposing a six-year sentence on Thursday, Mr Justice David Keane said the facts of this case were “heartbreaking and deeply disturbing”.
