A multi-agency team, which included the Coast Guard Rescue 117 helicopter, Rosslare Lifeboat crew, several National Ambulance Service units, and gardaí resulted when a man first attempted to rescue the child from the sea along Rosslare Strand on Sunday afternoon. 

Currently, high numbers of people are attending the department, some of whom will need to be admitted to the hospital for ongoing treatment, the HSE has said.

The situation will remain under review according to hospital management.

Gardaí and emergency services responded to reports of the collision, which occurred on the R702 at Curraghgraigue, Enniscorthy, at approximately 3pm on Saturday.

One youth was injured and taken to Wexford General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The parents of Conor Naughton, who was then four years old, had to pay for a private ambulance to transport their son from Wexford General Hospital to Dublin for surgery
