COLÁISTE Lorcáin, Castledermot said goodbye to its sixth-year students during a touching ceremony in the school gym.
Parents were welcomed to the ceremony by head boy Aaron Cullen and head girl Lucy Pittman. This was followed by a Ceremony of Light with readings from Jamie Flanagan from first year, year head Shane Hutton, parent Siobhan Hoy and sixth-year students Daire Phelan, Jasmine O’Neill and John King.
Charlie O’Connor and Melissa Oyewole read the first and second readings and there were musical performances from Freyja Scully, Lucy Pittman, Gabriel Polland Curran, Zach Nolan and sisters Mary and Margaret Lawler throughout the ceremony.
The diversity within sixth year was clear when Prayers of the Faithful were read in different languages by Mary Lawler (Irish), Peter Burke (English), Connie Harte (French), Gavin Anthony (German), Petra Kovacevic (Croatian), Jakub Kruk (Polish) and Vicky Van Tonder (Afrikaans).
Owen Fox captured the occasion with a reflection, which was followed by a group musical performance from the sixth years.
The school would like to congratulate the sixth-year students on their dedication and commitment to preparations for the leaving certificate examinations, which they have now completed, and to wish them the very best in the future.
Coláiste Lorcáin, Castledermot would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone in the school staff for their dedication throughout the school year.
