A NEW group aimed at supporting family carers has been formed in Bagenasltown.
The exciting initiative was launched last week in Bagenalstown Credit Union, with its inaugural meeting planned for Tuesday 7 September in Bagenalstown Family Resource Centre at 10.30am.
The idea for the new group has come as a result of a very successful FETAC Level 5 care skills course, which was attended by people in the Bagenalstown area.
The inaugural meeting will discuss the aims and objectives of the group and the needs of family carers locally. The group will also discuss the benefits of a free listening/counselling service.
“We are delighted with the launch of this project,” said Pat Grogan of the Carers’ Association.
“We organised the FETAC course early in the year, which was delivered by our tutor Ann Jacob, who lives locally.”
The course was delivered in the new family resource centre in Bagenalstown.
“Our centre is delighted to host this new group,” said Ann Shortall, manager of the centre.
“Family carers are very important to our community, and we will help in every way possible to support them,” she added.
