WE’RE in the money … or at least one family in Bagenalstown is, after a great win on RTÉ’s Big Money Game Show.

Paddy Flynn from Ratheadon, Bagenalstown appeared on the National Lottery show on Saturday 14 August and walked away with €40,000 and a holiday to Stockholm.

Paddy, who works in Burnside Engineering, Ballymoon, Bagenalstown, won’t quit his job just yet but said he would love to be able to put his winnings towards his family and his mortgage.

His wife Mary and four children Catherine, Teresa, Jennifer and Jimmy, as well as his four-year-old grandson Conal, were all cheering him on from the audience for his big game show debut.

His daughter Catherine flew in especially from Sheffield to support her dad.

On screen, Paddy joked with presenter Brian Ormond that he had missed his name being called the previous week as he was “down the road” playing pool with his son Jimmy.

Luckily, he managed to put the pool cue away for one night and head up to RTÉ for the show.

In his first game, Jokers Wild, Paddy managed to bag €5,000 before heading over to play roulette where he nabbed a further €8,000 and a holiday worth €2,000.

Lucky Paddy managed to pick the safe cracker card in the next game and stepped up to win a further €27,000.

An avid greyhound owner, trainer and breeder, Paddy joked that his winnings would feed the greyhounds “for a little while, anyway”.
