LOCAL thespians have an opportunity to perfect their craft with the creation of a new artistic group.
Carlow Actors Screen Group comprises actors from the Carlow/Kildare region who meet every two weeks in Teach Dolmain, Tullow Street, with the next gathering taking place tonight, Tuesday 24 January, at 7.30pm.
The group is fronted by local writer and film maker Pauric Brennan, who has a long list of accolades under his belt.
He is producer of Effigy Road, which was shot on location in Carlow, as well as the awarding winning He Waits, the short horror Dead Diary and Back Stage – a finalist in the Off-Line Offaly Film Festival 2011.
Pauric also directed the feature film We’ve Got Balls, which is due to be released 2012 and was shot on location in Carlow and Kildare.
With a range of different abilities and experiences, the actors’ screen group is open to all, from the professional to the part-timer, with Pauric saying they have one definite thing in common – a love of the screen and acting.
We’re told they will be making short films for festival entries later in the year and local writers, who may want to present their scripts to the group, along with young and new directors, are also invited to attend.
