NAOMH Padraig Bowls in Tullow, part of the active retirement association, has once again enjoyed a very successful year and it’s all down to the hard work and dedication of the members.
First off, the club held the 4s in-house league, with Ellen Whitfield, William Ryan, Vera Goss and Paul Doherty winning and Ann Waite, John McMorrow, William Jones and Mary Darcy coming a very close second. In third place were Una Brennan, Michael Doyle, Moira O’Neill and Bernard Smith.
The next competition was the 3s in-house league and the winners were William Ryan, Patricia Doyle and Sarah Byrne. In second place came Una Brennan, Noreen O’Toole and Paddy Doyle, with George Hawkins, William Jones and Mary Darcy in third.
Next up was the pairs league.
The winners were Moira O’Neill and Bernie Fleming; in second place were Vera Goss and Paddy Doyle, with Eileen Maher and Sarah Byrne coming third.
The club also held a knock-out competition, with Bernie Fleming victorious.
The members have also celebrated joining Active Retirement Ireland.
On Monday 19 December, the club had a Christmas tea party, and Santa arrived with a gift for everyone.
The club also got together in the Tara Arms two days later for the annual presentation of prizes, with some visitors coming from England to attend.
The club also held a Christmas raffle and the results are as follows: first prize, Sarah Byrne, Tullow; second prize, Margret O’Neill; third prize, Pat Byrne, Co Wexford; fourth prize, Ann Waite Tullow; fifth prize, Harry Henry.
