“IF WE can help just one local child with our few bob, then it is worth it”.

These are the words of Seamus Cooney, who was part of a group which performed in Carlow’s Fairgreen Shopping Centre recently.

Raising funds for the Make a Wish Foundation, this is the third year Seamus and his pals “caused pandemonium” in the Fairgreen.

“We did a bit of singing and a bit of dancing,” explained Seamus, whose group of friends were all raising funds for terminallyill children.

The friends, who are all from the Ballickmoyler area, call themselves “Nightowls”.

“Every Saturday night in O’Kelly’s Pub, Ballickmoyler, we have a bit of a singing session and a few years ago, we decided to raise some money for charity,” explained Seamus.

The group, which raised funds in the Fairgreen on Saturday 10 December, also had a helping hand from the girls at Dance Republic, who performed on the day.

Last year, they managed to raise €1,000 for the Make a Wish Foundation, and although they have not calculated their final tally just yet, they hope to have matched that this year.
