LEIGHLINBRIDGE was full of festive cheer recently for the Christmas fair in aid of the local day care centre.
A “big crowd” filed into the parish centre for the annual fair on Sunday 27 November.
Crafts, knits, cakes, jewellery, bric-a-brac, toys, books and a bottle stall were among the items helping to raise money for the Leighlinbridge centre.
“It was a very enjoyable day. Some of the day care participants were involved in making some of the items sold,” said day care nurse Mary Hickey.
A raffle also brought a great crowd and provided some entertainment throughout the day.
“All the work is done by volunteers and all the effort put in was a real community effort,” added Mary, who thanked everyone for their contribution.
The members of the day care centre enjoyed a hearty Christmas dinner on Wednesday, where they were entertained by musicians and singers, including the local playschool and primary school.
