LOCAL PRIMARY school pupils scooped almost €1,500 in prizes after they were labeled winners in the Jones Business Systems (JBS) ‘design a label’ art competition.

The local business teamed up with Brother to encourage youngsters to get creative with the label maker.

Youngsters were asked to draw colourful pictures and design a Brother label, and the competition received a huge number of entries.

“It went really well. We were delighted with the result and the huge amount of entries,” said Vivienne Jones of JBS.

Children from junior infants to sixth class had a chance to get creative with their labels and there were ‘One 4 All’ vouchers on offer in three different categories: junior and senior infants; first, second and third class; and senior (fourth, fifth and sixth class).

The winners were independently judged and chosen by local teacher and owner of Artforms Gallery, Mary Cassidy.

The overall winner, Miranda Faul from sixth class in Askea GNS, walked away with a €600 JBS voucher for her school.
