WRAPPING shoeboxes, filling them with little gifts and even creating their own colourful specs ... it’s been a busy few weeks for the pupils of Grange Na¬tional School.
The children recently took part in the National Council for the Blind’s annual Spex Day campaign, which creates awareness about sight loss, while also encouraging pupils to get arty by decorating their own pair of cardboard specs.
Last year, the school had a national winner in the competition thanks to pupil Amy Keogh, so hopefully this year Grange NS can continue its winning ways.
“The school managed to raise well over €100 for the National Council for the Blind, which was great,” said principal Maria O’Rourke.
The school has also got involved in the Christmas shoebox appeal, creating almost 70 boxes for the cause.
“We are very proud of our pupils this year for all of the shoeboxes collected,” said Ms O’Rourke.
