A FOOD critic and a killer?

That sounds like a yarn with all the right ingredients for a great thriller.

And so it was that Killer à la Carte, the psychopathic tale of a London-based food lover, was launched in the Visual arts centre last week.

The book is the work of Gerry Galvin, a chef and restaurateur formerly of Drimcong House, Galway.

Gerry is the brother of well-known local lady Noreen Whelan, who is heavily involved with the Carlow Historical and Archaeological Society.

The book, which is available in Easons and is published by Doire Press, tells the tale of James Livingston Gall, a London food critic and serial killer.

Hiding behind a facade of pedantry, James is a dangerous psychopath and his murderous progression is at the heart of the narrative.

The well-attended Carlow launch of the book took place on Thursday 17 November in the GB Shaw Theatre in the Visual Arts Centre.
