WHAT’S positive about ageing?
Everything!
Events to celebrate Positive Ageing Week took place around the county recently, with Carlow County Development Partnership working in conjunction with Carlow Older Persons’ Network to host a number of fes¬tivities.
Spread across the county from Graiguecullen to Tullow, the events were held to celebrate and reach out to Carlow’s older community, who are all still undoubtedly young at heart.
St Fiacc’s House in Graiguecullen, for example, held a musical ‘Rambling’ night for residents, visitors and local people, where craic agus ceol were enjoyed by all.
Tullow Day Care Centre, Leighlinbridge Active Retirement and the Sue Ryder Community Housing all held coffee mornings for residents, members and visitors, while St Catherine’s meals on wheels delivered a pack on the important nutritional needs of older people to all of their.
The event was marked in Carlow with a free singalong workshop, hosted by Mary Amond of Aspiro choir and Marian Gaynor of Córmiosa in the Cathedral Parish Centre.
We’re told that everyone involved raised the roof with their renditions of When the Saints Go Marching In and Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.
