Gongs handed out at Tullow Tidy Towns event

TULLOW Tidy Town’s committee held its inaugural presentation evening, where the winners of the best residential garden and best-presented shop front received their awards.

Chairperson of the Develop Tullow Association, Eddie Corcoran, welcomed everyone to the event, thanking them for their participation in the two competitions.

Speaking on behalf of Tullow Tidy Towns, cllr William Paton thanked the committee, the volunteers, FÁS workers and supervisors, the rural social scheme worker and those who entered the two new competitions. And Tullow notched up a whopping 283 marks.

Highly commended in the best residential garden category were Josie Hade of Fr Murphy Terrace and Frank and Michelle Morris from Loughmartin. Runner-up was Ger Whelan of Hillbrook Estate, while the overall winners for 2011 were Peter and Kitty Kavanagh of Templeowen, with their remodelled garden.

Highly commended in the best-presented shop front section were Gay and Teresa Griffin of Griffin’s Lounge. Runner-up was John Coughlan of The Tara Arms, while the overall winner was Sharon Smith of Riverbank Restaurant.

The members of Tullow Tidy Towns committee also presented individuals who assisted them during the year with a small token of their appreciation.
