Bank to reopen in Tinahely

TINAHELY will be awash with cash following the announcement by Bank of Ireland that its rebuilding of the old premises is near completion.

It is expected that the new bank will be open for business in the weeks before Christmas.

The reopening heralds the return of the town’s only bank, which has served generations of Tinahely residents.

The bank was plunged into the national spotlight in May when it sustained extensive structural damage as thieves attempted to rob the ATM using a JCB.

Bank of Ireland has almost finished rebuilding the premises, which will feature a new, modern layout.

Commenting on the much anticipated reopening, branch manager Trudy Ryan said: “Opening the doors to a brand new branch in the town will be very exciting and I look forward to welcoming many familiar faces very soon. The building of our new, modern branch is an investment in the future of Tinahely and recognition of the continuing support of our customers.

Bank of Ireland is firmly committed to this community and, while our staff and customers have suffered the loss of their branch in recent months, we can now look forward bringing our customers and our business back home and keeping the doors of Bank of Ireland very much open for business in Tinahely.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their continued business and support over the past few months, as they travelled to meet the staff in Bank of Ireland Carnew and other local branches such as Tullow, Baltinglass and Arklow.”
