THE legend of the banshee is about to be unravelled before our very eyes – and Duckett’s Grove is taking centre stage.
Over 100 cast and crew from the Syfy channel’s Destination Truth, now in its fourth season, have landed in Carlow and are busily preparing themselves for their live St Patrick’s Day broadcast. Yes … it’s true.
The team, who are staying in Mount Wolseley, are here “in search of the truth behind the banshee myth”. Speaking to The Nationalist, Josh Gates, presenter of Destination Truth, explained that he and his team regularly travel worldwide “investigating sites of mystery”.
Describing Destination Truth as “a travel adventure show”, Josh said Ireland was “a natural place for us to return to” after an epic response from viewers when they broadcast from Ireland during their last series.
Duckett’s Grove as their chosen destination is perhaps not as strange as you might think, with Josh explaining it was chosen because the team “were on the lookout for a location which could give us a great story … and a property that would be an interesting playground”.
With more than 100 people involved in the live show, as opposed to the team of eight usually required for a Destination Truth episode, the show’s presenter admits that “it is a big technical challenge”.
The set will be closed to outsiders to allow for an authentic experience and Josh says they will be striving to “see if we can experience what others have”. Irish viewers can catch the show St Patrick’s Day on Syfy.com from 11pm.
There will also be a feature on the show tomorrow (Wednesday) morning on Radio 1’s Morning Ireland and on the SixOne News that evening.
