A MEMBER of the public alerted gardaí to “suspicious activity” that eventually led to the discovery of €350,000 worth of ecstasy tablets in Maganey on Thursday.

Suspicious packages filled with the drugs were found along the Bo Choill Road, Maganey between 5pm and 6pm on Thursday.

According to gardaí, the large quantity of drugs was found after gardaí were alerted to the suspicious activity of a number of males in the area.

Members of Carlow and Athy gardaí were called to the area and uncovered the drugs after searching three men and the vehicle they were in.

The men, all in their late 20s, are from Carlow town and were arrested and detained in stations across Kildare.

The trio were released without charge on Friday evening and a file has been sent to the DPP.
