AS the old saying goes, ‘you can sing for your supper’, but in this case teenagers from Carlow Regional Youth Services sang for their music video.

Carlow Shopping Centre was transformed into a veritable music Mecca last Saturday when young musicians performed outside Superquinn.

The group from Carlow Regional Youth Service’s music project were raising money to help fund a music video which they plan to make in the coming weeks.

Shoppers were treated to the group’s fantastic talents and responded in kind by donating to the tune of €250, which will go towards making the video.

A special workshop will take place over mid-term break from 13-17 February, with a representative from the Young Irish Film Makers educating the group about everything to do with film-making, from using the cameras to sound editing. The course costs just €30 and is open to teens between 13 and 17.

The youth services music project meets each Friday night for weekly gigs from 7pm to 9pm in The Vault, Burrin Street, and all young musicians are welcome to perform.

If you are interested in taking part, you can contact The Vault on 059 9133714.

The group also passed on its thanks to the management and staff at Carlow Shopping Centre for all of their support.

If you are interested in taking part in the film workshop, you can contact The Vault, or Paul Amond on 085 7897279.
