THREE men have gone on a crime spree around the South East as homes in Carlow continue to be plagued by burglaries.

Last week, The Nationalist reported the “huge increase” in burglaries around the county and in the past seven days gardaí have once again had to deal with a substantial number of break-ins across Carlow.

According to Sgt John Foley, there is a group of three men who have “been everywhere” in the past two weeks.

“We believe they have been involved in a signifi cant number of crimes in the area in the last two weeks,” added Sgt Foley.

The trio are wanted in connection with burglaries in South Carlow, Wexford, Thomastown, Wicklow and Tipperary. Break-ins in the Tinryland and Nurney areas during the week, are also believed to be connected to the three men.

On Tuesday 24 January, the front door of a house in Tinryland was forced open and thieves stole a “significant amount” of cash and jewellery.

The incident happened some time between 5pm and 7pm, while a home at High Street, Nurney was broken into at approximately 7pm.

Again, the front door was forced and jewellery was taken.

Gardaí believe there is a possible connection between these incidents and the trio’s crime spree across five counties over the past number of weeks.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have seen a blue Honda Accord in the Tinryland/ Nurney areas at the time to contact them at Carlow Garda Station on 059 9131505.

Anyone who may have seen three men acting suspiciously and travelling around the county in a blue Accord is asked to speak to gardaí.
