Good attendance at ICA meeting

THE December meeting of Ballyconnell ICA was held in St Mary’s Hall, Ballyconnell. There was a good attendance. Noel O’Broinn read some poems and afterwards Christmas carols were sung.
The raffles prizes were donated by Rathwood, Kings Cross Shop, Evan Shop and Walkers, Shillelagh. Winner of prize, Geraldine Healy; 2, Ann Whelan; 3, Carmel Kehoe; 4, Lena O’Grady; 5, Margaret Driver.
Carlow federation ICA are holding a dinner dance in Rathcrogue Guest House on January 9 2002.
LESSONS: Music lessons in Ballyconnell school on Friday, January 11 2002 from 3 to 4 pm from senior infants up, phone Lorna Maher 054 67042.

DEATH: William Kelly (Billy) Knocktomcoyle died at his residence on his 77th birthday (new years day). His burial took place in Kilquiggan after 12 noon Requiem Mass. He is mourned by his wife Ann son Willie, daughters Mary Ellen, Marian, Josie, Maura, Pauline, all his relatives and friends.
May he rest in peace.
SENIORS: The raffle held during the bingo was very successful, thanks to all who supported it and donated prizes. Arthur Kennedy, Denis Cullen, Supervalu and Doyle, Mary Doyle, Vouchers from Pat Kealy, Anthony Kenny, Tom Fox, Bennys Fruit Shop, local milkmman. The amount raised was almost £270. Their annual dinner party in Ballyconnell hall on Friday January 18 at 5 pm.
SYMPATHY: To Mr and Mrs Doyle Rathduffmore on the death of their daughter Fiona aged 16 years who died recently. She is sadly missed and mourned by her parents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, all her relatives and friends in Colaiste Eoin who formed a guard of honour. Her burial took place in Knockanna after concelebrated Mass by Rev Fr PJ Byrne PP and Fr Lambert.
DEATH: John (Jack) Kehoe, Cronaskeagh, Clonmore died recently in Carlow Sacred Heart Hospital, aged 74 years. His remains were brought to the Church of our Lady of The Wayside, Clonmore and received by Rev Fr Charlie Byrne PP. His burial took place in new cemetery after 11 am requiem Mass, celebrated by Fr Vincent McDonald CC. He is mourned by his brothers Paddy (Tullow), Charles Clonmore, nephews, nieces, all his relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.
SATURDAY: Evening Mass in Kilquiggan Church during 2002 Sundays 9 am in Ballyconnell, 10 am Killquiggan, 11 am in Clonmore. A happy new year to all.
COMPUTER COURSE: Co. Wicklow VEC Adult Education Service will be setting up a course on computer aided learning in January in Ballyconnell Hall, you are invited to attend an information evening on Monday 14th January 2002 in the Hall at 8pm.
The course is an opportunity to - Increase and update English and numeracy skills for everyday use. Develop confidence in communicating with others through spoken and written words. DEATH: Cllr. Larance Hunt, Ballyconnell, died recently in Carlow District Hospital, his remains were brought to Byrne’s Funeral Parlour Crablane, and then removed to St. Mary’s Church, Ballyconnell. His remains were cremated in Mount Jerome Crematorium after 12 o clock Requiem Mass. He is mourned by his brother Tony, cousins, all his relations and friends. May he rest in Peace.
DINNER DANCE: Clonmore G.F.C. will hold their Annual Dinner Dance in the Seven Oaks Hotel on January 25th, tickets 22 euros. Music by Blue Lace.
HEALTHY HACKETSTOWN PROJECT: Health Awareness Day on January 17th 2002 from 2-8pm, in the Community Centre. Free Health Assessments on the day, will include Carbon Monoxide testing Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar, B.M.I. Cholesterol and general health information. More details next week. All are welcome.
CHANGE OF MASSES: Please note change of Mass in 2002, Saturday evening Mass in St. Fintan’s Church in Kilquiggan 7.30pm only, in Ballyconnell at 7.30 in 2003 and in Clonmore at 7.30pm in 2004. On Sundays 9am Ballyconnell, 10am Masses in Kilquiggan and in Clonmore at 11am for 2002.
