Soccer: Stradbally maintain perfect run
10/7/2002 -
Carlow Rovers 1 Stradbally Town 7
SECOND division Stradbally are one of the few teams wit have 100 per cent record so far this season and first division Carlow’s tentative approach to the opening exchanges was apparent and understandable despite home advantage.
Town settled down in business like fashion and it quickly became clear that Ger Roche was going to make it a torrid event for the Carlow defence and he duly scored in the 8th minute.
His contributions and clever passing posed all sorts of problems for the Carlow defence that has not received such a rattling in a number of seasons and found itself further behind to a well executed brace of scores by Padraig Langton.
Whatever signs of life that existed in the Carlow side were almost quenched by additional scores by David Kinsella and the goal of the game by Karl Mulhall short-ly before half time.
During the second half exchanges Stradbally tacked on additional scores through David Kinsella and Paddy Walsh before Carlow replied late in the game. Most impressive for a rapid-ly improving Stradbally included Karl Mulhall, David Kinsella and man of the match Ger Roche.
