THE SPEC-tacular confidence and style a local lady brings to wearing her glasses has put her in the frame to win Irish Spectacle Wearer of the Year.

Siobhan Delaney from Carlow is one step closer to winning the coveted title of Irish Spectacle Wearer of the Year after being chosen as a semi-finalist in the 35-44 age category. She is one of eight semi-finalists who will compete to represent Ireland at the grand final in London on Tuesday 10 October.

Siobhan’s geek-chic winning look has also earned her a Specsavers’ eyewear voucher to the value of €215, a framed certificate and a bottle of champagne.

“I am very proud to wear my Specsavers glasses, as not only do they improve my eyesight but they make me feel fashionable,” said Siobhan. “Wearing glasses gives me extra confidence and without my unique frames I wouldn’t feel like the individual and unique person I am,” she added.

Specsavers Carlow store director Mary McGinley expressed the excitement of all in the Carlow store in having a local person in the semi-final. “We are delighted that a customer from our store has been chosen as a semi-finalist in the 35-44 category and we would like to congratulate Siobhan on this achievement,” said Mary.

Competition ambassador and former Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle will announce the overall Spectacle Wearer of the Year, who will win €12,000 in cash and €1,000 to spend on eyecare in Specsavers.
