ONE of Carlow’s most prominent hotels is up for sale and could be yours if you have a spare €14 million.
Mount Wolseley Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort in Tullow, Co Carlow is being offered for sale at a guide price of €14.25 million. Its owners Tetrach have put it up for sale after buying it in 2014. The hotel had previously been in receivership with debts of €60 million. Tetrach subsequently turned around the business’s fortune and it showed profits for the last two years.
The deal included a four-star hotel with 143 bedrooms, modern conference and banqueting facilities, a spa with 14 treatment rooms, a health club, gym and a 20-metre leisure pool all set over a 170-acre campus. The sale also includes 16 four-bedroom lodges and the Christy O’Connor Jnr golf course, which has hosted the prestigious Volopa European Challenge Tour event in 2015 and 2016.
The hotel is “highly profitable”, according to the selling agent, with scope to enlarge it.
The resort is for sale in a single lot or in two lots: the hotel, spa and golf and the 16 lodges separately.
John Hughes of CBRE, which is handling the sale, said: “The sale of Mount Wolseley Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort represents one of the best opportunities in many years to acquire an established, high-quality, four-star hotel in the southeast tourist region of Ireland, offering enormous potential. The hotel has a number of unique selling points and facilities that allow for future business growth.”
